All-Party Parliamentary Group on Wellbeing Economics

All-Party Parliamentary Group on Wellbeing Economics

In July 2025, the World Wellbeing Movement began serving as Secretariat for the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Wellbeing Economics.

The All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Wellbeing Economics brings together cross-party Parliamentarians with academic experts, as well as leaders in business and civil society. Its purpose is to promote evidence-based approaches and develop practical strategies and policies to improve wellbeing in the UK. The group advocates for a wellbeing economy – one that goes beyond an overfocus on GDP growth alone and puts our shared human and environmental needs at the heart of decision-making.

The APPG’s work in Parliament includes hosting meetings and events, submitting evidence to Government consultations and select committee inquiries, and proposing new approaches and policies to put wellbeing first in public policy.  Originally formed in 2009, the APPG was reconstituted in 2025. The World Wellbeing Movement now serves as its Secretariat, a role previously being fulfilled by the New Economics Foundation and later the What Works Centre for Wellbeing.
